The lunch was very well attended by 75 Old Girls. Over 30 other Old Girls had bothered to write and give their apologies for not attending.
Jane informed us that, sadly, Joan Flowerdew had recently died.
Carole Owen then stood up and told us more about Dorothy Stevens. She did have a little trouble with the microphone
and the taker of the video could have filmed it from a better place but having learnt a few things it should make for better
videos in the future.

We were very lucky to have an after luncheon speaker, Betty Brown, who told us of her intrepid adventures on the Tall Ship "Tenacious". She wrote a very nice poem about her experiences and to read it tells the whole story. She is a very brave woman. She went back again at a later date and repeated the experience!
Betty was also one of the Olympic torch bearers and she graciously allowed us to pass it around which felt really special.

The memorabilia table went extremely well. many people were very interested and had a great deal of useful information they were prepared to share with us for the website.
It was mentioned by Maureen Edwards (nee Reynolds) that there was nothing on the site regarding the wartime years in Retford in Lincolnshire when the whole school was evacuated. This will certainly be rectified as Maureen is writing to me to let me know many details of these years. So watch this space!

Just a few snippets from the luncheon. The School Song is playing in the background but with the female chatter going on you can hardly hear it!
